Zbigniew Jurewicz<\/strong> pseud. Mi\u015b (born June 1, 1922 in Krakow, died December 10, 2016) – Brigadier General of the Polish Army, doctor of military sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The son of Karol and Maria, until 1939 he attended a high school in Krakow, closed in December 1939 by the Germans, in 1941 he passed his high school diploma and became an accountant at the Sich\u00f3w-Szwagr\u00f3w estate in the Stasz\u00f3w poviat. In April 1943 he joined the Home Army, assuming the pseudonym “Mi\u015b”. A graduate of the Officer’s Artillery School in Che\u0142m Lubelski, which he graduated on April 29, 1945, promoted to the rank of second lieutenant in the corps of artillery officers by Maj. Gen. Boles\u0142aw Czarniawski, after which he became the commander of the school platoon, and then the school battery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From 1945 he held successive and higher command and staff positions in the Polish Army. 1954-1955 he graduated with honors from the Commanders and Chiefs of Staff of the Regiment at the Higher Artillery School in Toru\u0144 and became the deputy commander of this school for line affairs. 1957-1961 student of the Artillery Faculty of the Academy of General Staff of the Polish Army in Warsaw, from which he graduated with honors. In October 1968, while serving as the head of the Operational Board of the General Staff of the Polish Army (1968\u20131972), he was promoted to the rank of brigadier general. The general appointment was presented to him on October 12, 1968 at the Belweder Palace by the chairman of the State Council of the People’s Republic of Poland, Polish Marshal Marian Spychalski.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the December 1970 events, he was the chief of staff of the Warsaw Defense Operational Group. He was also a member of the crisis management team established by the Ministry of the Interior as a representative of the Ministry of National Defense. From June 1972, deputy commander of the Academy of the General Staff for Research. On June 15, 1979, he defended his doctoral dissertation on: The direction of improving the organization and planning of scientific activity at the Military Academy of the commander type (on the example of ASG), obtaining a doctorate in military sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the years 1982\u20131983 minister plenipotentiary – a representative of the People’s Republic of Poland in the International Control and Supervision Commission, which supervised the ceasefire between North Korea and South Korea. Retired since November 1984.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
